YouTube API Services
I operate a private command-line tool (“asep-video-engine-cli”) that I use to manage my own YouTube channel. This tool is an API Client that uses YouTube API Services.
Who This Applies To
The tool is not published, not distributed, and has no users other than me. It only ever accesses the YouTube channel that I own and authorize with my own Google account. It does not access, collect, or process data belonging to visitors of this website or to any other YouTube user.
What It Accesses
Through the YouTube Data API and the YouTube Analytics API, the tool reads and writes only my own channel’s data: video metadata (title, description, tags, category, made-for-kids declaration, privacy status, thumbnail), playlist membership, and aggregate performance metrics for my own videos (views, watch time, average view duration, audience retention, traffic sources). It does not upload videos through the API.
What It Stores and For How Long
Video IDs and aggregate performance metrics for my own videos are stored as files on my own computer, inside my own private project repository. OAuth credentials are stored locally in an environment file that is excluded from version control. No YouTube data is stored on this website, transmitted to third parties, sold, or used for advertising.
Data Deletion
Because the only data involved is my own channel’s data, I can delete it at any time by removing the local files and revoking the tool’s access. No other person’s data is retained, so there is nothing for a third party to request deletion of. If you nonetheless have a question about data handling, contact me using the details in the “Contact Me” section below, and I will respond within 30 days.
Your Controls
Anyone who has authorized a Google application can review and revoke that access at any time at Google security settings.
Applicable Terms
By using YouTube API Services, this tool is bound by the YouTube Terms of Service. Google’s handling of data is described in the Google Privacy Policy.
Child Protection
This website does not intentionally collect information from children under 13 years old. If you are a parent and know your child has provided personal information, please contact me.
Policy Changes
This privacy policy may be updated from time to time. Changes will be announced on this page with the latest update date. Significant changes will be notified through a banner on the website.
